The Voice of Silence

Silence is profound as it contains so much more than man's words can ever define. Only in silence and stillness can the unlimited and sacred ominipresence be known. This sacred space is known as unconditional love. It is known as Reality without obscuraction or conditioning. It is reflected in truth, integrity, loving kindness, fairness, and "real justice".

Yet when this love is aborted -- when living beings are exploited, abused, or made to suffer by others, the natural response is to witness oppression and suffering through a loving expression -- through reflecting the Truth rather than further obscure it.

Indeed suffering comes when people act out of harmony with Integrity -- when they act out of omission. When we allow oppression, exploitation, "crimes" or injustice to occur when we can prevent them or especially when it is our natural responsibility to prevent them, then we participate in harming our self in the sacred sense of all our relations -- in terms of this great love.

Rather than to cooperate with the process of the Lie (institutionalized and conditioned as it is) -- rather to refrain from uncovering and unravelling it -- rather than to do the bidding of the oppressor and find our security, haven, and reward "there", it is far more noble and honest (and healthy) to expose it and oppose this force -- to speak up, act up, or at the minimum witness the abomination created by our fellows, rather than ignore it, be cowered by it, subjugate onself to it, or obey it. This is the spirit of satygraha --serving the Truth and as such is the link to all liberation movements be they spiritual or political -- be they advocated by Martin, Malcolm, Mandella, Gandhi, or Pelletier. How expediently this can be done is the active mergence of wisdom and love -- of integrity in all our relations.

Silence, they say, is the voice of complicity.
But silence is impossible.
Silence screams.
Silence is a message,
Just as doing nothing is an act.

Let who you are ring out and resonate
in every word and every deed.
Yes, become who you are.
There’s no sidestepping your own being
or your own responsibility.

What you do is who you are.
You are your own comeuppance.
You become your own message.

You are the message.

May the Great Spirit Make Sunrise in Your Heart . . .

Hoka Hey!
